How to open a token in Pepegun – address, link or $ticker

In short

To buy or sell a token, open its card. Just send the bot the token address, any link that contains it, or the ticker with a $ sign, for example $NOT.

How it works

The bot looks for a token address (the address of the jetton contract) in your message. Once it finds one, it sends the token card right away: a chart, the price, liquidity, your balance and buy and sell buttons.

The address can be anywhere: in the middle of a text, inside a link, behind a hyperlinked word («Buy», «Chart»), in a picture caption or in a post forwarded from a channel. No special command is needed.

Ways to open a token

1. Paste the token address

Copy the token address and send it to the bot as a message. It usually starts with EQ… or UQ… and is 48 characters long. A raw 0:… address works too.

Where to find the address: in the project's official channel, on the token page in an explorer or a screener.

A link works when the token address sits in it whole and on its own: a token page in an explorer, a swap link on an exchange, a bot link like ?start=EQ…. The bot pulls the address out by itself. If something is glued to the address in the link, for example ?start=ref123_EQ…, the bot will not find it: copy the address itself.

A link like https://t.me/PepeGunBot?start=TOKEN_ADDRESS opens the card at once. The bot gives similar links itself: in the Share button, in 🔥 Hot and in token cards in groups.

3. Forward a post

Forward a post from a channel or chat that mentions the token address. The bot reads the text, the picture caption and the links inside.

4. Type a $ticker

Send the ticker with a dollar sign, for example $NOT. Case does not matter, Cyrillic works too. $USDT finds USD₮.

What counts as a ticker:

  • after $ come 1 to 20 letters, digits or _, with at least one letter;
  • all letters are from one alphabet: only Latin or only Cyrillic (this filters out fakes such as «TОNNEL» with a Cyrillic «О»);
  • amounts like $100, $5k or $2kk are not tickers;
  • the bot handles up to 3 tickers per message.

Several tokens can share one ticker. The bot picks one by these rules:

  1. Tokens you can trade come first (they have a pool or a launchpad curve).
  2. Of those, the one with the highest real trading volume right now.
  3. With no volume data, the one with the deeper pool.
  4. If that is a tie too, the older token.
Check the address

Anyone can copy a ticker. Before you buy, compare the address on the card with the one from the project's official channel. If in doubt, open the token by address, not by ticker.

The bot does not look up $TON, $GRAM or $TONCOIN: GRAM (what is it) is the network's native coin, not a jetton, so it has no card. The bot says so: «is the network's native coin, not a token: it has no card».

In other chats

Via @PepeGunBot in any chat

In any chat type @PepeGunBot, a space and a token address or name (2 characters or more). The bot shows up to 5 matching tokens with their FDV and liquidity. Pick one, and a token card is posted to the chat: a chart, statistics, the top 10 holders, links to DexScreener, GeckoTerminal and DexTools (for tokens with a pool), timeframe buttons and 🚀 Buy.

Such a card has no trade buttons. 🚀 Buy opens the token in the bot, and the link carries your referral code.

In a group

Add the bot to a group. When someone posts a token address, the bot replies to the message with the same card as in inline mode. The bot shows the same token in one chat at most once a minute.

$tickers work in groups too, with stricter rules so the chat is not spammed:

  • the ticker has 2 characters or more;
  • the bot ignores $BTC, $ETH, $SOL, $BNB, $XRP, $TRX, $DOGE and $USDC: in a group these are almost always coins of other networks;
  • a card is posted only for a live token: 24h volume from $300 or a pool from 300 GRAM;
  • one card per message, forwarded messages are ignored;
  • the same token at most once in 15 minutes, and no more than 2 cards a minute and 10 an hour per group.

Group admins can switch ticker cards off with /tickers off and back on with /tickers on. /tickers shows whether they are on.

Good to know

  • You need a wallet in the bot to trade. Without one the bot replies: «First create a wallet: /start → 👛 Wallets.» How to get one: Create or import a wallet.
  • A card opens in buy mode. One button switches it to selling.
  • You can keep several cards open: each works on its own and trades its own token.
  • If you hold the token, opening its card adds it to Positions.
  • If a jetton has no pool and no curve yet, the bot opens the snipe window for it right away: you can set up a buy for the moment it gets a market.

If something goes wrong

  • «Could not read the token.» There is no token at this address: it may be a wallet address. Check the address.
  • A link does not open the right token. Pair links on screeners often contain the pool address, not the token address. The bot cannot open the right token card from a pool address. Copy the token address instead.
  • «Looks like a scam token». A website address is baked into the token name. This is a typical spam airdrop: such a token has no market and cannot be traded.
  • «💤Unknown token». The bot found no market for the token. If you are sure it is a mistake, write to @pepegungster, as the bot suggests.
  • «🔎 Could not find the token $X among the ones the bot knows.» The bot does not know this ticker. Send the token contract address and the bot opens the card.
  • «This is an old card – open the token again». The bot could not tell from this message which token it is. Open the token again.
  • «The card was reloaded after a bot update…» The bot was updated, or you opened many other cards after this one (the bot remembers about the last 12). The card reopened with default settings. Check the wallets and the slippage and tap the button again.
