How to create or import a wallet in Pepegun

In short

You need a wallet to trade in Pepegun. You can create one right in the bot in a minute, or add your own: with a seed phrase, from Telegram Wallet, or via TonConnect.

If you are just starting, the easiest way is to create a new wallet in the bot.

How it works​

A wallet in the bot is a regular wallet on the TON network. It has an address where you can receive coins and tokens, and a seed phrase: 24 words that give full access to the wallet.

The network's main coin is called GRAM in the bot. You use GRAM to buy tokens and to pay the network fee (gas). The bot shows every amount and balance in GRAM and in dollars.

The bot signs trades from such a wallet by itself, so a buy or a sell takes one tap.

Create a new wallet​

1. Open «Wallets»​

Tap 👛 Wallets in the main menu, or send the /wallets command. While you have no wallets, the bot says «You have no wallets yet».

2. Pick a version​

Tap Create wallet. The bot asks «Which wallet version to create?» There are three options: W5, V4 and Highload.

These are different versions of the wallet smart contract, and each one has its own address. If you plan to open this wallet in another app later, pick a version that app supports.

3. Save the seed phrase​

The bot sends «✅ Wallet created» with the wallet address and the seed phrase. The phrase is hidden under a spoiler: tap it to see the words.

Write the 24 words down in order, on paper or somewhere safe and offline. Then tap 🗑 Saved it – hide: the message with the phrase turns into your wallet list, and the phrase is gone from the chat.

Whoever knows the phrase owns the wallet

Never show or forward your seed phrase to anyone. More in Safety.

If you skipped this step, you can see the phrase later with the Seed phrase button on the wallet card.

4. Top up the wallet​

A new wallet is empty. Open it in the list, tap Top up and send GRAM to the address shown, from an exchange or another wallet. See Managing wallets for details.

Import your own wallet​

If you already have a TON wallet with a 24-word seed phrase, you can add it to the bot.

1. Tap «Import»​

👛 Wallets → Import. The bot asks: «Send the 24 words of the seed phrase in one message».

The same screen has a Telegram Wallet button: use it if you are moving a wallet from Telegram Wallet. It has its own page: Telegram Wallet import.

2. Send the phrase​

Send all 24 words in one message, separated by spaces, in order. No numbers in front of the words.

The bot deletes your message from the chat right away, even if it has a mistake. That way the phrase does not stay in your chat history.

3. Pick the version​

One phrase opens several wallets: one per version. The bot shows the W5, V4 and Highload versions with the address and GRAM balance of each.

Pick the version that holds your money: W5, V4 or Highload. Add both versions (W5+V4) adds two wallets at once. If you added one version, its wallet card opens; if you added both, you see the wallet list.

Good to know​

  • You can add up to 10 wallets per account. Every kind counts: created, imported, Telegram Wallet and TonConnect.
  • The bot names wallets in order: W1, W2, W3 and so on. You can rename a wallet on its card.
  • Your first wallet becomes the main one right away and gets a 👑. See Managing wallets for what that means.
  • You can't add the same wallet (the same address) twice.
  • The bot accepts 12-word phrases only for a Telegram Wallet import. A regular import needs 24 words.

Troubleshooting​

  • «The limit of 10 wallets is reached». Delete a wallet you no longer need and try again.
  • «24 words are needed, N were sent». Send the whole phrase in one message, with no numbers or extra text.
  • «❌ Invalid seed phrase. Check the words and their order». There is a typo or the words are out of order. Check against your copy and send it again.
  • The bot says the wallet is already added. That version of the wallet is already in the bot. Find it in 👛 Wallets.
  • Imported, but the balance is 0. Your money is most likely on another version. Import the phrase again and look at the balances of all versions.

What's next​
