How to create your own TON token with Pepegun

In short

A standard token: you set the name, ticker, picture, description and how many tokens to issue. The whole supply lands in your wallet at once, and the token's admin rights stay with you.

How it works

The bot creates a standard TON token (a jetton, version 2.1) in two steps and does both by itself:

  1. It creates the token on the network.
  2. It mints the whole supply to your wallet.

The wallet you create the token from pays for it, receives the whole supply and gets the admin rights: the ability to mint more, change the token's data and give those rights up. More: Managing your token.

Step by step

1. Open the new token window

In the main menu tap 🚀 Launcher, then 👛 New deploy and 🪙 Standard token.

The «New token» window opens: the picture on top, a table with every field below, and the price. The buttons come in pairs: the field's name on the left, its current value on the right. Either one works.

2. Upload a picture

Tap 🔓 Picture and send a picture: a photo or a PNG, JPEG or WebP file.

  • At least 64×64 pixels.
  • A file up to 10 MB.
  • The bot crops it to a centred square. If there is text on it, keep the text near the middle.

The picture shows up in the window right away.

3. Fill in the name, ticker and description

  • 🧾 Name: the token's full name, 1 to 64 characters. For example: Pepe Frog.
  • 🪙 Ticker: the short name, like a coin's symbol on an exchange, 1 to 16 characters, no spaces. For example: PEPE.
  • 🐸 Description: up to 500 characters. It is optional: No description leaves it empty.

For every field the bot sends a prompt. Just reply with a message. Changed your mind: tap Cancel under the prompt.

4. Set the supply and decimals (if you need to)

  • 💵 Supply: how many tokens to issue. The default is 1 000 000 000 (shown as «1B» on the button). Type the number in digits: 1000000000 or 1 000 000 000.
  • 🎯 Decimals: how many decimal places the token has (what is it). The default is 9, anything from 0 to 18 works. If unsure, keep 9.
info

Decimals cannot be changed later. The supply can be increased later by minting more, but only while you hold the admin rights.

5. Pick the wallet

The 👛 Wallet: W1 button shows which wallet the token is created from. By default it is your main wallet. To pick another, tap the button: a list of your wallets with their balances opens, the chosen one is marked with «•».

This wallet pays for the deploy, receives the whole supply and holds the token's admin rights.

6. Tap «Deploy» and check

When everything is filled in, tap the green 🚀 Deploy. If something is missing, the bot tells you, for example: «Add a picture, a ticker».

The «Check the token» screen opens: every field, the wallet and the amount to be charged. If everything is right, tap ✅ Confirm. To fix something, tap ⬅️ Back.

7. Wait for the confirmation

The bot shows what is going on:

  • «Uploading the token data…»
  • «Sending the deploy…»
  • «Deploy of $PEPE sent, waiting for the network to confirm…»
  • «Token $PEPE created, minting the supply…»

When it is done you get «Token $PEPE created» with the token's address and an explorer link. The supply is already in the wallet.

The buttons under the message:

  • 🪙 Open token: the token's card in the bot, like for any other token.
  • ⚙️ Manage: the token's screen with minting, editing and revoking the rights.
  • 📦 My deploys: the list of all your tokens.

Good to know

  • Price. Creating a token costs 0.16 GRAM + network fee. The wallet needs at least 0.2 GRAM before the launch, so both steps are covered. The unspent part of the gas comes back to the wallet.
  • Required fields: picture, name, ticker and wallet. The description is optional.
  • The ⬅️ Cancel button in the new token window erases the draft and takes you back to the launcher menu.
  • A prompt waits 15 minutes for your answer. If you send nothing in that time, tap a button in another part of the bot or send a command, the bot stops waiting for the answer. Just tap the field again.
  • The same token cannot be created twice. If you create a token with exactly the same picture, name, ticker, description and decimals from the same wallet, the bot answers «This token has already been created from this wallet». Change at least one of these fields: a different supply does not help.
  • Where to find the token later: 🚀 Launcher → 🔎 My deploys.

If something goes wrong

«Not enough GRAM in the wallet: 0.2 needed, … available.» Top up the wallet and tap Try again.

«The file is too large: up to 10 MB.», «A PNG, JPEG or WebP picture is needed.», «The picture is too small: at least 64×64 is needed.» Send another picture. A regular photo from your Telegram gallery works.

«Name: 1 to 64 characters.», «Ticker: 1 to 16 characters, no spaces.», «Description: up to 500 characters.» Shorten the text and send it again.

«A number greater than zero is needed.» (supply) Use digits only. A fractional part is allowed, with no more digits than the decimals.

«The mint was not confirmed by the network. Check the wallet balance and mint the supply again.» The token exists, but the supply has not arrived yet. Make sure the wallet has GRAM and tap Mint the supply. The same button is on the token's screen in 🔎 My deploys. The bot never sends a second mint while the first one can still land, so no extra tokens appear.

«The deploy was not confirmed on the network. Check the wallet's balance and try again.» The token was not created. Check the balance and create the token again with 👛 New deploy.

«The network is not responding right now. The token's status will be in «My deploys».» The bot did not get an answer from the network in time. Look in 🔎 My deploys in a minute: it shows whether the token was created.

«The wallet is busy with the previous operation. Try again in a minute.» Another send from this wallet is still in progress. Wait a minute.

«Token creation is unavailable right now. Try again later.» A temporary problem, try again later.
