Wallet safety in Pepegun

In short

The main rule: your seed phrase is your money. Whoever knows the phrase owns the wallet. Keep it offline and never show it to anyone.

The seed phrase​

  • Write it down offline. On paper or somewhere safe without internet. Don't keep it in phone notes, in the cloud, in Telegram's «Saved Messages» or in screenshots.
  • Never show or forward it. Not to friends, not to «support», not to websites that ask you to «verify your wallet». Anyone asking for your phrase almost certainly wants your money.
  • Enter the phrase only in the bot, and only after tapping Import. Don't send it to other chats, groups or websites.

What the bot does for you​

  • Hides the phrase under a spoiler. Both when you create a wallet and behind the Seed phrase button, the words stay hidden until you tap them.
  • Clears the phrase from the chat. After creating a wallet tap 🗑 Saved it – hide, after viewing tap 🗑 Hide: the message with the words goes away.
  • Deletes your message with the phrase on import. Right away, even if the phrase has a mistake. If the message somehow stays in the chat, delete it yourself.
  • Asks for confirmation before deleting a wallet and reminds you to save the phrase.
Sent the phrase to the wrong place?

If you sent the phrase to another chat or a website by mistake, treat it as exposed. Create a new wallet and move all the money there from the old one.

TonConnect: trading with no phrase in the bot​

If you don't want to enter a phrase in the bot, connect your wallet via TonConnect. The phrase stays only in your wallet app, and you approve every trade and every transfer yourself. Never forward the connect link. The downside: limit orders, copy trade and snipes are not available for such a wallet.

Before you delete a wallet​

Deleting removes the wallet only from the bot. The money stays at its address on the network, but only the seed phrase opens it. So before Delete or Delete all, make sure the phrase is written down. You can see it with the Seed phrase button on the wallet card.

Transfers​

A blockchain transfer can't be cancelled or reversed. On the «Confirm the transfer» screen, always check the whole recipient address, not just the first and last characters.

Your Telegram account​

The bot knows you by your Telegram account. Whoever gets into your Telegram gets into your wallets in the bot too. So:

  • turn on two-step verification (a cloud password) in Telegram;
  • don't log in to Telegram on other people's devices;
  • make sure you are talking to @PepeGunBot.
